Listed below is the objectives published by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) governing "meaningful use" of electronic health records. HHS had lowerd the criteria from 25 objectives that providers had to meet, to 14 mandatory and 5 menu objectives.

In a press conference today, ONC announced the release of the long awaited final version of the “Meaningful Use” rule. The Office of National Coordination for Health Information Technology received over 2000 comments from across the country during the rule making process. Those comments resulted in a dramatically scaled back set of regulations, while still maintaining the goal of achieving improvement in health care outcome.

The site summarizes a lot of the information we have been gathering during the last six months. But the most important new information that we found is that providers have to register in the PECOS system. Our guess is that the majority of doctor's out there are not registered.
